EIRIS :Ethical Investment Research Service. It is a charity, set up in 1983. And for the investor there are some very interesting and very useful things on this site. One is the Find an IFA sevice which can find the IFAs experienced in Ethical Investment nearest to a Post Code. There is also a Find an Ethical Fund service and if you leave all the criteria blank you'll get a long list of UK ethical funds. There is much more on this large site including lots of information on their SRI research projects.

UKSIF’s primary purpose is to promote and encourage the development and positive impact of SRI amongst UK based investors. UKSIF believes that all material social, environmental and ethical (SEE) issues should be integrated into standard investment practice and that individual investors should be able to reflect their values in their investments. This is a big site packed with information and links
NEF : New Economic Foundation - is an independent 'think and do' tank which believes in economics as if people and the planet mattered. In particular we'd like to point you to a great doument written by Dr John Taylor on Ethical business: how a new breed of business is changing the world where they expand on their identification of the Ethical Pioneers in Business. You can down load the PDF from this link
Forum For The Future : The UK's leading sustainable development charity. Of particular interest here is a n excellent document on the business case for SRI - sustainability pays. Its very long but there is a more manageable executive summary you may find time to read
CSR.GOV.UK : For the goverments side of the case on Corporate Social Responsibility - The Government sees CSR as good for society and good for business. Lots of articles and links here on the whole ethical business.

Socially Responsible Investing (SRI)
Ethical Investing is a subjective business and whereas most investors may think twice about investing in companies who profit from death, exploitation or pollution, there may be differences of opinion over tobacco, alcohol or gambling. Even so, it is estimated that there is well over 2 trillion dollars invested in some kind of socially screened investment in the USA alone. The power that this money and the millions of ethical investors can wield is now recognised as a key driver for developing strategies to protect the environment, alleviate social hardship and stimulate sustainable economic development.

Can I make good returns on my money ?

We do not offer financial advice here but but we have done extensive research to bring you the best sites that can help you make your ethical financial decisions. I think you will be persuaded that you can be a socially responsible, ethical investor and make just as much profit, or more, than by investing conventionally. But when it comes to financial advice take heed of the following wise words " it is very important to remember that one's future financial security should be placed in the hands of advisers who are qualified to advise rather than qualified to sell"

Green Money
We are a non-profitmaking group dedicated to the promotion of
  • ethical behaviour
  • creativity
  • freedom of expression

particularly in the fields of Business, Art and Design.
We have had a keen interest in Ethical Investment as a tool for change for many years and believe that the signs are that this area is set to expand phenomenally in the next decade. Campaigners like Greenpeace and WWF are getting into the business of business and people on the street are expecting higher and higher standards from companies. Socially responsible investing is one way those of us lucky enough to have money to invest can keep the pressure up.
